I've often said to people asking advice about bushcraft kit that they would be better off saving money on kit and buying books instead. There are loads of great books about the skills we call bushcraft but there are also plenty that will inspire you to practice your skills and get outside as well. There are fictional stories as well as non fiction about peoples experiences with bushcraft skills and one of my favorites is Mark Twains stories about Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer.

Here's Huck with the berries that share his name. Huckleberries or black nightshade are delicious, just like a small black tomato.
